Sharing the Love with Anchor House!

Showing the love for Anchor House - Delta Phi Epsilon at TCNJ created affirmation cards for our youth
Sorority members from Delta Phi Epsilon at TCNJ showed their love to our youth by creating positivity and affirmation cards for youth in our programs.

February is the month all about love. There are so many people who show the love throughout the entire year to Anchor House in many different ways. We think February is the perfect time to celebrate them!

Food is often an expression of love. Having a home cooked meal or treat is even more meaningful for our youth, many of whom have faced food insecurity before coming to Anchor House. We have many individuals and groups that donate non-perishable food items and meals to Anchor House.

Most recently, the Bordentown Elks recently dropped off a hearty meal of cheesesteaks and meatballs for our youth to enjoy. A group of employees from Otsuka baked cookies and cupcakes for our youth Valentine’s Day as well as decorated our Shelter and Anchorage sites for the holiday.

Many of the young people Anchor House serve struggle with their self-esteem. Our staff tries to instill in them the importance of loving themselves but it is often difficult for them. Many are accustomed to feeling unloved or being told negative things about themselves by those who are supposed to love them the most. To help build their self-esteem, kindhearted sorority members from Delta Phi Epsilon at TCNJ hosted a service event and made positivity and affirmation cards for youth in our programs.

Participants in the Anchor House Foundation’s Ride for Runaways show their love by cycling or walking for our kids. Their efforts help raise thousands and thousands of dollars each year for our operations and programs.

Visit the Ride’s website at to learn more about the Ride’s different challenges including the 500-mile Classic Ride (note the deadline to apply for the Classic Ride is March 1).

We sincerely appreciate everyone who has volunteered to prepare or deliver meals, to share a smile and a kind word, and taken the time to do something that shows our youth that our community truly cares about them. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!
