Ages: Birth - 12 Years
Angel’s Wings
is an emergency respite program for abused and neglected
children ages birth to 12 years who are referred by the state
Division of Youth & Family Services.
The program has two primary
components: a community home where the children stay, and parent
support services for natural and foster families.
The program’s community home is
run by live-in parents who provide 24 hour care for the
children. Staff and volunteers also help care for the children
and provide safe supervision, educational activities, and
recreation.
Angel’s Wings can house up to five
children at a time.
Children generally live in the
home 30 days until permanent homes can be found in the community
or they can be reunited with their natural families.
The Parent Support Coordinator
provides services to foster and natural families to ensure that
the children live in stable homes and parents get the assistance
they need to successfully care for the children.
Services may include in-home
counseling, crisis intervention services, teaching home skills,
parent support groups, or life skills training for children.
Angel’s Wings also trains and
supports volunteers to encourage them to become foster parents.
